Now based in the U.S., Melissa is part of Ahlstrom’s leadership team, where she leads business development and strategy for battery-related markets across the Americas. Her work directly supports the growth of sustainable technologies and meaningful partnerships within the energy storage ecosystem.

With experience across multiple continents and cultures, Melissa brings a global, inclusive, and collaborative perspective to her work. “One challenge has been navigating industries traditionally dominated by men, particularly early in my career,” she admits. “However, those challenges have made my achievements even more meaningful.”

From leading cross-regional teams to helping shape innovative solutions, Melissa’s success reflects both her technical expertise and her ability to build bridges across diverse teams and industries. She also considers her role on WGBI’s steering committee an achievement in itself—giving her the opportunity to support others navigating similar challenges.

🤝 WGBI Involvement: Building a Stronger Industry Together

Melissa joined WGBI to help foster a more connected, inclusive battery community. “I wanted to help create a stronger network for women in this fast-growing industry and to promote diversity of thought and leadership,” she says. Through WGBI, she has expanded her global network and gained fresh insights that continue to shape her leadership style.

Ahlstrom – a proud WGBI partner sponsor – supports WGBI’s mission by encouraging employees at all levels to engage with the organization. Melissa has contributed directly through panels, discussions, and mentorship, actively aligning the company’s DEI goals with WGBI’s programming.

One of her most rewarding experiences? Guiding a young professional through a career transition into the battery sector. “Seeing her grow in confidence and impact was a reminder of the power of mentorship.”
